THE FAUX SHAY KITS ARE HERE!

The Faux Dunkirk/ Shay is in stock again! There is a section describing it in the GEARED LOCOMOTIVE CONVERSION KIT section including a full color illustration in scale :-) Check it out! It may take a while to load, but hey, it will be worth the trouble. This kit is now in production again after renewed interest and orders are being taken, don't miss out!

HAWAIIAN PLANTATION LOCO & RAIL BUS

I have been developing a locomotive kit similar to the SUGAR PLANTATION trains so popular in Hawaii and on cotton plantations in our Southern States. Check out the illustrations and photos of the kit and also some great photos of similar HAWAIIAN TRAINS.

Also of interest is the RAIL BUS similar in style and size to the Silverton Rail Bus. The model can be powered by a flea or by a number of slightly modified N Scale locos, all with very satisfying results. Follow the lead to the HTML page.

For some real FUN, go to the PHOTO GALLERY and take a look at the World's First LGB scale Wooden Roller Coaster Loop!!!

HOn30 MODELS: This page has various models I have built over the years which may become kits if enough interest exists. Most are reasonable replicas of real locomotives while others are mere flights of fancy. . . HOn30 Gallery.

FORNEY

BACK IN STOCK

Thanks to several new requests, the Forney has been re-run.

. .

Thanks to a recent MR article by Bob Hayden there was sufficient interest, to re-run them again.

By popular demand, I'm including a section that is chock-a-block full of useful tips, hints, specs and drawings but it is not for the weak of heart, there are some VERY big JPEGS here and it could take a while. Also be aware that I wasn't really ready to unveil this section so it is very much a work under construction. If you're still game, visit the BACK SHOP/ ROUNDHOUSE.

PREVIOUS KIT RUNS SUCCESSFUL! Thanks to everyone, the Limited Run of Critters has gone very well. The response to the quality of the kits was very gratifying as evidenced on the HOn30 Mail Car home page mail section. We will be announcing new potential kits in the very near future. If sufficient queries, votes, are received, these will go into production a month later at the rate of one every 6-8 weeks or so. Thanks to all.

NOTE: This page has been enhanced for Netscape 3.0 and looks very cool when viewed with that, or a similar browser. Set your preferences so that all fonts are bumped up from the default by one size, for ease of reading, and allow for my settings to override on graphics and layout. If done right, the background here should look like wood! If you have not tried Netscape, do so. Test versions and 3.01 are FREE and well worth the price ;-) You can even get Netscape Gold 3.0 and Internet Navigator FREE!!! :-)

BORING LEGAL STUFF: All drawings and writings are Copyrighted and enthusiastically enforced. Also, the kits are designed for adults. We are not responsible for paper cuts, soldering iron burns, spilled coffee, etc. Don't let your dog chew on the brass parts, they hurt. Any modifications to standard train chassis WILL void their manufacturer's OEM Warranty.

BRICK'S KITS FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - Here is a FAQ on my kits that will answer a lot of your questions. I wanted to bring everyone up to date on the brass conversion kit progress. After much coersion on your part, I found the original artwork for the old Movie Miniatures brass kits although they did require some cleanup after an earthquake and 13 years of hibernation :-) The rapid, enthusiastic response from all of you has encouraged me to go back into producing kits and to create new ones that had been started a long time ago. For each kit, I will need a minimum run of 50 kits to cover setup, minimums by the various vendors, etc. If I had only half that number, the cost would be double and that wouldn't fly :-( I also need to order in multiples of 6 each since that is the number I can do on a single sheet. Hence, I have to order 48, 54, 60, etc. Remember, these are brass etch conversion kits and do NOT have running chassis or detailing parts, they are good quality conversion kits of etched brass that require purchasing a running chassis to complete.

ORDERING/ RESERVATIONS/ QUERIES - If you are enquiring directly about kits, please address E-mail to BrickPrice@aol.com and put in KIT INTEREST - XXX as the subject. If you are reserving a specific loco, please place the name in the XXX part of the subject so I will know what it is you want. For instance the subject may read FAUX SHAY/ PLYMOUTH HO SCALE ORDER. I nearly missed a reservation because the order was part of a basic query letter. I get over a hundred pieces of mail each week and it is easy to lose you. Do NOT send money until I've called for it. Otherwise, you could wait months for a particular kit. If you want to pay by credit card, try Train & Trooper or Dave Frary. They will each have some kits although I know Martha has nearly sold her entire run of Forneys already and I have no overrun pieces.

PAYMENT - Address your payment to: Brick Price KITS, C/O WonderWorks, 7231 Remmet Ave., Canoga Park, Calif. 91303. Kit XXXX. All payments are for the models plus shipping and handling of (usually) $6.00 for USA ($15.00 for Canada and $12.00 everywhere else Overseas). The shipping cost is to pay for a good box, wrapping, labels, insurance and postage. We haven't lost a kit yet when insured.

Once you are notified that a production run is started, please send an International Money Order, Money Order or Cashier's Check as soon as possible (no regular checks, cash, stamps, indian beads, etc accepted). Regular checks are a pain to process from out of state and I have already been burned with an NSF check. Orders without payment aren't counted as orders. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH! Please place the name of the model you want on the envelope and the cashier's check. Also, don't forget a return shipping address. I had to track down someone who forgot his address, you'd know him so I won't mention any names ;-)

STANDARD HO GAUGE & HOn3
Many of the above can use Spud - like units for standard gauge. I have used the Tenshodo unit and Kato Pocket Line chassis. All of the above can use Spud-like units. I HAVE ADDED A CHASSIS ILLUSTRATION PAGE HERE to help all of you kitbashers and scratchbuilders. Check out the BACK SHOP.

I have functioning prototypes and blueprints for each of these already done, so there is no need for R&D or much lead time once I am rolling in production. Most of these are designed to fit multiple chassis to allow for a little creativity on the part of the builder. I like Bachmann because they are dirt cheap, run well and are readily available. The newer chassis run far better than the old ones and can be distinguished by a motor with skewed windings. The Little Docksider that was made a decade ago with black plastic side rods is poor running unit but the newer unit is superb.

All assembly is easily accomplished with standard hand tools and will not require major modification to the intended chassis. Solder is the best method using a low temp solder and iron although you could use Hot Stuff. Otherwise, you'll need a mill file, needle nose pliers and tin snips. The Plymouth and Rail Truck are great beginner kits, very easy to build.

Production runs will be limited to approximately 20% over the firm orders received prior to starting a production run but never more than 40 pieces. The reason for this is that I cannot afford to stockpile the kits. This is a sideline hobby and not a livelihood for me. My regular job is a company, WonderWorks which makes sets, props and miniatures for movies and museums and I work there in the capacity of Director of Special Visual Effects.

Kits which sell well may be re-run in a year or so but poor sellers will never be rerun. In any case, I will do it the same way, where advance orders determine whether or not there is a run.

Thanks again for your support, I am very pleased to know that my contributions are still welcome within the railroad community. After all, if this can't be enjoyable, why do it ;-)
