Creating a Shadow Step 1- Collect all items (photos and text) which require a shadow in pagemaker. With all objects visible on the screen, capture a screen dump of it (enter "Command-shift-3" on the keyboard) Step 2- Open the screen dump into photoshop. Choose grayscale in the menu. Crop and size the screen dump to the actual image size. Step 3- Select the white areas with the magic wand. Choose inverse in the select menu. Hit delete. Fill with 25-50% black. Deselect and apply a gaussian blur. Step 4- Save as a tiff. Go back to pagemaker and place behind your items.

For PageMaker 5.0 users -- Most know the shortcut for swapping views from "Fit in Window" to "Actual Size" is [CTRL + W] and [CTRL + 1], but did you know that by pressing the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON will also swap between these views? Also, follow this tip for getting to the right page area easily: No matter what layout view you are in or what tool you have selected, simply hold down the ALT key and then press your left mouse button. While holding both of them, the pointing cursor turns into a hand. When this happens, you can move the page area into view without all that scrolling.
