Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA)

The MTA administers, constructs and operates the Metro system, the integrated transportation system for Los Angeles county. The Metro is coprised of:

The MTA

The MTA was established in February 1993 from the merger of the Southern California Rapid Transit District (RTD), the county's bus and LRT operator and the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission (LACTC) which planned and administered transit services.

Headquarters

The MTA is headquartered in the Gateway Center building, located directly east of Los Angeles Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles.
