Welcome, lonely/broken-hearted people everywhere! If you can't stand Valentine's Day ("V-D" is what I generally refer to it as), then read on. It'll show you that being lonely ain't so bad after all. All of the below are excerpts of a column I once wrote called "?", which was printed in USC's student newspaper, the Daily Trojan, from January 1994 to April 1995.
The newspaper column had a rather diverse following, but most of the readers were 'nice guys' like me who likewise had little or no luck with women. But most importantly, it had a considerable female following, some of whom (through reader feedback) labelled me a 'romantic.'
You would think that something like that would get me dates.
It never did.
So, read how depressing my love life is. Funny, because these
entries are already eight years old (ugh)...so I guess my work is "timeless". (And yet
you keep on believing love will come tomorrow...or the day after tomorrow...or...).
Whatever.
