The Bass Man

Domenic Genova

Domenic Genova - electric, string bass

Born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1949, Domenic moved to Los Angeles in 1962. His first recollection of being drawn to the world of music was in 1964, when he was haniging out with friend in a garage and everybody looked at each other at the same time and said "What music is that?" They found out it was the Beatles and right then Domenic started to learn the guitar.

Shortly afterward, some of his guitar player friends were playing and said they needed a bass player. Everyone looked at Domenic and he was elected. Soon he learned Paul McCartney bass parts, not bad for a first influence. At that time he soon discovered James Brown and he learned more about the art of playing bass.

In 1968 he met some more advanced musicians. Sax, trumpet, and piano players and then Mile Davis was introduced to his life. Soon after Domenic met some local musicians who had fathers in the L. A. studios, clubs ecetera. By then he knew he was hooked for a life in the world of music. In 1970 he landed his first big gig with " Bobby Sherman". Since that time his credits include tours with "Seals & Croft", "Olivia Newton-John", "5th. Dimension", "Shaun Cassidy", "Melissa Manchester", "Jeff Richman Band", and the "Thom Rotella band". Domenic has recorded with such artists as "Seals & Croft", "Shaun Cassidy", " Kim Carnes", "Himalaya", "Michelle Shocked", "Brian Mann", "Dory Cayimi", "Tori Amos".
