Analyzing water piping systems is a snap with Micro Hardy Cross . This program handles systems as large as 4,000 pipes, as well as realistic modeling of pumps and flow control valves.
Pipe networks as large as 4000 pipes, 200 pumps, 200 control valves and 2000 loops may be modeled. Up to 3000 nodes are allowed, each of which could be a reservoir or tank if needed.
Pump head curves are modeled by a smooth fitted curve for accurate representation of pump characteristics and operation.
Control valves are handles with ease, without trial and error. You specify the pressure setpoints or the desired flow rate, and the program handles the rest.
Graphic capabilities include convergence plots, pump head curves, loop hydraulic profiles, network plan vies, and contour mapping of pressures, hydraulic grade line elevations or ground elevations. All graphic images may be printed on a laser printer or a dot matrix printer.
Report generation is flexible, allowing the user to specify report types, output formats, and element ranges. Reports can be displayed on the screen, sent to a printer or written to a TEXT file. A wide choice of English or Metric units may be specified for most parameters.
Micro Hardy Cross supports either the Hazen-Williams, Darcy-Weisbach or the Chezy-Manning pressurized conduit formulas for pipe friction losses. Hydraulic calculations are made using an iterative process based on the traditional Hardy Cross Method.
Data emtry is accomplished using menu driven data editors. The data is saved on either hard disk or floppy diskettes. Separate data files may be merged to form larger models. The results of an analysis may be saved as a file and recalled later for printing. Flow balance information from one run may be saved and recalled as the initial flow assumption for subsequent runs to save computational time.
Micro Hardy Cross is a DOS application, and will run on any PC, including those with only 1MB of RAM. The program needs less than 1 MB of hard disk storage, or it can be run from floppy disks alone.
Micro Hardy Cross is menu driven for easy operation, even by a computer novice. On-Line "HELP" screens provide assistance at the touch of a key. Interactive on-line data editors and data entry windows make data entry easy, and the program's error checking routines eliminate many common data errors.
Telephone and Internet support is provided for the program and its application, at no additional cost. Technical support is provided by the developer of the program, Dr. James R. Van Winkle, who is a liscenced professional engineer with over 25 years experience in water system design and analysis and computer programming.
You can download the DEMO version of Micro Hardy Cross (263K).
Create a directory called MHC on the root directory of drive C and copy this self extracting file to the new MHC directory. Then run the program to create the needed directories and to copy the program and data files. Run the extracted program as "C:\mhc\mhc.com"
The MANUAL for the program (in WORD format) will be available for downloading soon. Send us an E-Mail if you wish to be notified when it is available. Use PKUNZIP to expand the files.
