These are some stamps that were sent to me from my
internet friends, Ton & Joke from the Netherlands
This striking set of three stamps with a continuous design was issued in 1974 for the 75th anniversary of the Netherlands Association for the Protection of Birds and of the State Forestry Service.
This series of stamps shows the stages of development of the polders, land that is reclaimed from the sea.
This stamp shows a map of the Delta. It was issued in 1972 to publicize the Delta Plan, a project to shorten the coastline and to build roads
Ice skating is very popular in the Netherlands. The first stamp was issued for the "elfstedentoch", a race on the canals and rivers over 11 cities that is only held when the ice is exceptionally thick. It was just held again in 1997 after many years of thin ice
These two stamps show William I (the Silent) who lead the Dutch to freedom from Spanish rule in the 16th century.
This 1945 issue shows a lion fighting a dragon, and is titled "Herrijzend" which means "rising again", commemorating the liberation of the Netherlands
The stamps celebrate Dutch painters: Rembrant (left) and Van Gogh
These were issued in 1934 for the Tercentenary (300 years) of Curacao
